Our Oberstdorf Trip - Visiting the Neuschwanstein Castle |
Neuschwanstein Castle: a Place of Refuge for a King
The Neuschwanstein castle is set up on a high mountain in the southwestern town of Bavaria in German. It is a Romanesque palace that was built in honor of Richard Wagner. It was also made as a place of refuge for the Bavarian king who always wants to withdraw from the people but after his death, it became open to the public. It has been recorded that about 6,000 people visit the castle in a day especially during the summer time. This castle has now been considered as one of the most famous places in Germany and in Europe. The castle prides itself as the inspiration for the castle in the Walt Disney presentation of the Sleeping Beauty. It has also appeared in different movies. But because of the structure's age and the kind of weather it has been put upon, the limestone with which it has been built has to be constantly monitored and secured.
